Gina Belafonte on Arts & Activism

GINA BELAFONTE DISCUSSES ARTS & ACTIVISM: THE BELAFONTE LEGACY

Woman’s City Club is proud to present Gina Belafonte at our 32nd National Speaker Forum. Actress, producer and social activist, Gina was the lead producer on the internationally acclaimed documentary film, SING YOUR SONG, exploring the extraordinary life and legacy of Harry Belafonte, her father.  Like him, Gina uses her art as a tool for healing and inspiring transformational change.

Her work in the realm of prison abolition and juvenile justice is profound and creative. As the CEO of Sankofa.org, she brings together art, activism, and policy to challenge the mass incarceration system. Through immersive theater, documentaries, and even VR/AR re-entry programs, she centers the voices of young people, survivors, and returning citizens —building empathy, healing trauma, and envisioning a future beyond cages.

The National Speaker Forum benefits Woman’s City Club, a local civic organization that works to educate, empower, and engage the citizens to act together in promoting the common good. Attend the lecture only for $50 or buy a VIP ticket for $150 that includes a private reception with the speaker. To purchase at higher levels, click on Underwriter.

Women Doing a World of Good: An Afternoon with Elizabeth Smart

Join the Junior League of Cincinnati for our spring fundraiser Women Doing a World of Good: An Afternoon with Elizabeth Smart- Abduction Survivor, Founder of the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, Inspiring Communicator of Hope on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Elizabeth will share her story of survival, strength, and the power of hope. As a lifelong advocate for victims’ rights, she is an inspiring voice in the fight for justice and healing.

Proceeds from the event support the Junior League of Cincinnati’s mission to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. This includes support for our current signature partner, HER Cincinnati, which provides resources and programming to empower women to break cycles of poverty, addiction, and human trafficking.

This event offers two tiers of tickets: VIP and Balcony (P1). VIP ticket holders will enjoy lunch, the keynote address, and Connection Collective along with an exclusive book signing by Elizabeth Smart. Balcony ticket holders will have access to the space at 12:00 for the keynote address and following Connection Collective.
